The Mentor's Report

"Mentoring is the support and encouragement of people to manage their own learning in order that they may maximise their potential, develop their skills, improve their performance and become the person they want to be."

Eric Parsloe, The Oxford School of Coaching & Mentoring

We take the mentoring our of Lodge members very seriously at Universal Lodge.

To this end, each of our candidiates are assigned a Personal Mentor who will assist them with their Masonic Journey.

We understand that each member has individual needs and aspirations and these must be identified and discussed if we are to ensure that each member receives the 'pastoral' care and expertise they each deserve.

There are three initial aims our Personal Mentors hope to achieve with their charges:

First, to help the candidate feel he belongs;

Secondly to help the candidate understand freemasonry and its ritual;

Thirdly, to help the candidate be able to communicate about his membership.

Covering these three separate areas ensures that the candidate maximises his mentoring experience.

Of course mentoring isn't just about our new masons and here at Universal we also take very seriously our existing members' wants and aspirations.

Most importantly, whatever we do we ensure that it is all done in good heart and with fun.

Overall, we understand that mentoring exists to help develop good masons and support our Lodge, which concludes in a happy environment for all.

Why not come along and join us!
